Food Court at Kean University Miron Student Center
Di Cara | Rubino Architects had the opportunity to be involved with this high-profile project at Kean University through our long-standing relationship with Frankoski Construction – who was hired by the University’s food service vendor, Gourmet Dining Services.
The project entailed designing a food court space in the former 5,200 square foot bookstore in the Miron Student Center. A preliminary concept plan was provided by Kean University, which needed to be modified somewhat, yet still maintain the overall concept and basic layout. Di Cara | Rubino Architects’ team provided the required architectural and engineering services for the project, which included a Smashburger, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, and Outtakes Quick Cuisine, as well as adjacent seating areas. During the design phase, it was the responsibility of our in-house interior design team to coordinate with the franchise vendors to review material selections, fixtures, and finishes for lead time, availability, and adherence to corporate branding guidelines. The new spaces meet all current codes and are fully ADA-compliant. The project was completed within budget and in time for the beginning of the fall 2016 semester. |
